Run the Edge
The Lake District Coast is Cumbria’s hidden coast. Behind the grandeur of Scafell Pike, beyond the expanse of Windermere and the sweep of Langdale Pikes lies a stunning and unexplored coastline. It’s also an ancient coast studded with Roman remains, historic harbours, castles and ancient industrial workings.
As part of Connecting Cumbria’s Hidden Coast Programme funded by Coastal Communities Fund and Sellafield Ltd, Copeland Borough Council are working with partners to host a brand new challenge event the length of the borough. Largely following the line of the designated English Coastal Path, the challenge route will stretch from Millom in the south to Whitehaven in the north. Linking in to the wider programme the coastline will eventually see improvements in infrastructure, new art installations and will enable people to explore Copeland’s art, culture and heritage using the natural environment.
So what to expect? Sweeping views and the sound of the waves, robust route signage, friendly marshals and support, the best race medal, a quality t-shirt and amazing goody bag (we put the ‘good’ in goody bag), and a vibrant Event Village with music and food vans. What’s not to like?
